Project HENS from BATTERY CAGES to FREE RANGE

HAI MESHEK embarked on a project aimed to release hens from Battery Cages into Free Range Facilities

One of our main goals is to increase consumer's awareness of the cruel conditions of Battery Cages in which laying hens are kept in and to demonstrate the many benefits of Free Range farming system

Today Battery Cages accounts for less than 1% of the total eggs production in Israel. The rest are kept in cages and experience severe suffering for their entire lives

Project's objectives:

• Lobbying in Government and in Parliament, in support of Free Range farming systems;
• Conducting campaigns to increase public awareness:
  • Educational campaign aimed to reach over 200 schools yearly.
  • Public campaigns in the media and in targeted point of sales.
• Encouraging and supporting farmers in converting Battery Cages into Free Range facilities
